By this, we mean the treatments for your particular concern. Sometimes, you will find that many procedures promise to do the same thing, and some do. Whether it is boosting collagen, smoothing wrinkles, both, or something else, you will most likely have choices open to you. Do your research and make a short list of what (at this point) you think are the viable options before looking for a clinic that offers your preferred solution. Keep an open mind, though, as there might still be alternatives you haven't considered at this point.
While there are numerous things to consider, don't limit your options due to distance. Sometimes, travelling a bit further can lead you to the right clinic.
Reviews.
Google reviews are still the benchmark. They are getting better all the time at weeding out fake reviews, and there are improvements in the pipeline. It's believed that Google will soon eliminate reviews from users who've only ever left one review, which can sometimes indicate less reliability. They are also (apparently) going to remove reviews that just have the rating with no dialogue. You will usually get a good feel for the clinic from having a read-through. Look out for positive reviews that have keywords stuffed in the wording. Don’t just read the negative reviews like most people. Read quite a few and get to know the clinic through what people have said. Google the clinic name followed by ‘reviews’, as you will notice there are a few review sites out there.
The clinic website.
Small mistakes on the website can be forgiven. Most have a few. But, if the website is full of errors, you must ask yourself, will the lack of attention to detail be the same as the clinic's working practices? Look for transparency as to who is the owner, the staff, and their qualifications. Look for testimonials, although don't attach too much weight on website published ones. Shy away from a website with a contact form but no phone number. Try to gauge how easy it is to get in touch with them should you have any post-treatment questions. Check for before and after photos. Most clinics will not have many of these due to the fact that patients tend not to like them on show, but if you see some, that's a good sign.
Another point is to look for multiple treatment options—the more options open to you, the greater the chance of success in resolving your concern.
Call them up.
The best way to establish if an aesthetic clinic is right for you is to call them up. Have some questions written down so you can call more than one and ask the same questions. This is the best way to get a feel for the clinic before any possible consultation. Ask about alternatives, pricing, and who performs the treatment in question. Ask them how long they have been open and anything else that might help your decision. A clinic that takes the time to answer all questions patiently is a good indicator of their customer service. Do you have a good feeling about it? If so, go ahead and book a consultation. You can really sense if things feel right during it, and always remember, you can refuse any treatments following the visit.
This is the best way to decide. A reputable clinic will insist you have one. Its your time, you are the patient. Do not bow to any pressure. If things don't feel right, just say goodbye and move on to another clinic. See a consultation as your research, not as a vehicle for the clinic to sell you a treatment. Steer away from a clinic that is trying too hard. You can always use what you learn when you have a consultation at the next clinic. Assess the ambience while you are there, too.
We would say that, wouldn't we? Using a doctor-led clinic means that staff are more qualified to advise the best course of action. The advice will be based on their medical knowledge and extensive skill set. They are also more qualified to spot medical and skin disorders.
